What’s the difference between Azure Migrate and Azure Site Recovery?

Azure Migrate and Azure Site Recovery (ASR) are both services offered by Microsoft Azure, but they serve different purposes.

Azure Migrate is a service that helps customers assess and migrate their on-premises workloads to Azure. It provides a set of tools and services that help customers discover, assess, and migrate their on-premises workloads to Azure. The goal of Azure Migrate is to simplify the process of moving existing workloads to Azure and ensure that the workloads are ready to run in the cloud.

Azure Site Recovery, on the other hand, is a disaster recovery solution that helps customers protect their on-premises, Azure, and multi-cloud workloads. It provides a set of tools and services that help customers replicate their on-premises or Azure workloads to a secondary location and failover to that location in case of a disaster. The goal of ASR is to ensure that customer’s applications are highly available and can be restored quickly in the event of an outage or disaster.

In summary, Azure Migrate is focused on the migration of existing workloads to Azure, while Azure Site Recovery is focused on the disaster recovery of workloads running in various environments.
